Sisu-Karate Day Camp – August 9, 2026

kihon

On Sunday, seven karateka had the opportunity to enjoy a six-hour day camp organized by Sisu. Shihan Kai and Sensei Ossi made sure there was plenty to do throughout the day!

Training began at 9:00 a.m. at Riihimäen Kamppailukeskus, and the day concluded at around 3:00 p.m. with an outdoor training session at Riihimäki Sports Park.

Morning session at the Martial Arts Center

What better way to wake up a karateka than with a three-hour morning training session! The program began with the opening rituals, followed smoothly by warm-up exercises and kihon.

Kata, or forms, are traditionally an essential part of a karate camp day!

Under the guidance of Shihan Kai, the next exercises focused on shadow fighting and improving mobility.

Afternoon Outdoors at Riihimäki Sports Park

After noon, we moved outdoors to continue training at Riihimäki Sports Park. What could be better than training in beautiful summer weather with a great group!

At the Sports Park, the training continued with a Kyokushin theme. In addition, Krzystof gave us a taste of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu. The participants were given one final challenge by Sensei Ossi with a conditioning session that included jumping, push-ups, abdominal exercises, and training on the fitness stairs.

Unfortunately, no photographic evidence of the latter part remains – only the memories of those who took part 🙂

More to come

This was already our second day camp within a relatively short period of time, and there is clearly demand for events like these. We are already planning a similar event for September!

If challenging yourself, learning martial arts skills, and training with a great group sound appealing, send in your registration for the beginner course! Alternatively, if you already have a martial arts background, you can join the advanced course directly.

Summer isn’t over yet – have a great summer, everyone!
